At-Risk Youth
Special Equestrians works with a number of alternative schools and social-service organizations whose youth have been determined to have a high probability of failing or dropping out of their school curriculums. The various partners we work with support students who have been impacted by poverty, racism, homelessness, neglect and trauma.
Community partners include Lakeside Girls Academy in North Wales, St. James School in Philadelphia and Valley Youth House in Warminster. For each collaboration, we develop targeted growth and learning activities designed to improve self-esteem, trust, and self-efficacy as well as develop valuable life skills.
Sessions can be scheduled either on or off site, depending on each partner’s needs. We have found that students who participated in five or more on-site visits consistently showed an increase in school attendance and overall school performance.
